The character of Faye has been shrouded in mystery throughout both God of War 2018, and its sequel God of War Ragnarok. In the first game, Faye is only mentioned through dialogue between other characters, and the shared grief between Atreus and Kratos means that she’s rarely a point of discussion. All players find out is that she was somehow able to quell Kratos’ unstoppable rage, and that she was a giant from Jotunheim.

In God of War Ragnarok, players find out a little more about Faye, and her relationship with Kratos, with Deborah Ann Woll even making an appearance as the character in a series of dream-instigated flashbacks. Players are able to see her character shine through a little more, and see how she was able to lay the groundwork for Kratos to become a changed man and, eventually, a good father. One of the final reveals of God of War Ragnarok also hints that Faye knew much more about her future than fans had previously thought, which adds another layer of complexity and mystery to her character.
