At the end of God of War Ragnarok, Thrud, Thor’s daughter, can be overheard mentioning an unknown object, and stating that she plans on setting off to find it. While those who have finished the game probably have a good idea of what that mysterious object could be, they’ll have to continue adventuring for just a little while longer after those initial end credits roll to find out for sure.

What Thrud is Looking for at the End of God of War Ragnarok
Once Ragnarok has swept through Asgard and Odin has been defeated, players will control Atreus once again as he wakes up in a cave on Midgard, surrounded by his ex-Valkyrie allies. On his way to meet his father at the peak of the mountain, Atreus meets up with various allies from across his adventures. One of the most memorable interactions along this road is with Thrud and her mother, Lady Sif. After the two agree that Odin’s death brings them comfort, Atreus asks if Thrud will stay in Midgard, to which she says, “I’ve got something I need to find,” alluding to an unknown artifact or object.
If players continue exploring the Nine Realms, completing various side missions and collecting all the various trinkets, they should eventually stumble upon Thrud once more. Just outside of the desert workshop in Alfheim, Kratos, Freya, and Mimir will come across Thrud kneeling in the sand. In front of her is the mysterious object that she set off to find: Mjolnir, which seems to be half-buried in the ground at her feet.
After murdering Thor for defying his orders during Ragnarok, Odin threw Mjolnir into the abyss, and Alfheim seems to be where it landed. After taking a brief moment to reflect and saying that she’ll make her father proud, Thrud picks up Mjolnir with ease and zips into the sky with a triumphant roar. After she takes off, Mimir utters a simple, “Well, good for her,” with his tone seeming optimistic.
If players then walk up to Lunda at the blacksmith shop, they can trigger some additional, optional dialogue that gives a bit more of an insight into how this moment has impacted God of War Ragnarok’s heroes. Lunda remarks that she “has a good feeling about that Thrud girl,” even despite her troublesome ancestry. Freya agrees, saying that “she’s an impressive young woman,” and that she was eager to learn from all of the Valkyries, even her. Freya then mentions that now she has Mjolnir, Thrud will likely head straight to Sigrun to begin her Shield Maiden training. On a final, bittersweet note, Lunda says that she believes Brok and Sindri would be glad their hammer has been passed down to Thrud, with her future career as a Shield Maiden/Valkyrie likely being a bright one.
