There’s now less than 100 days before God of War Ragnarok’s official release date. At the time of writing, it’s 99 days until God of War Ragnarok releases on November 9, 2022, and the amount of hype behind the game is at an all-time high. Fans are desperate for an experience that not only lives up to its predecessor, but expands and improves on it both in terms of gameplay and story, and hopefully God of War Ragnarok can deliver on such a hefty promise. But with less than 100 days to go, it’s a little odd that fans haven’t seen more of God of War Ragnarok.

God of War Ragnarok Is Still Shrouded in Mystery

When it comes to huge-budget AAA releases, it’s often the case that they’ll receive an absurd amount of marketing before release to ensure that literally every single person in the world knows that the game is coming out. On top of this marketing, it’s also usually the case that the game has had multiple trailers released over the span of a year or two, both to build hype for the game and to show potential players what they’ll be delving into upon launch.

Interestingly, God of War Ragnarok has started its big marketing campaign, but it’s looking pretty scarce on the trailer front. God of War Ragnarok was first announced 10 months ago in September 2021 and since then there’s only been a total of two trailers released so far. The first announcement trailer gives a general overview of some of the game’s story, with Atreus wanting to explore more of the world and find out who he is as opposed to hiding, and Kratos begrudgingly agreeing to ask Tyr, the Norse god of war, for help. A few gameplay montages are also shown off in this trailer, showing Kratos using both the Leviathan Axe and the Blades of Chaos, and fighting some familiar foes.

Since then, Sony and Santa Monica has released just one more trailer. Titled “Father and Son,” this cinematic trailer came out a few weeks ago, revealing Fenrir the gigantic wolf, and little else. For a game with such a big budget and such monumental hype behind it, showing just a minute of gameplay before its release is a bit of a strange move. However, there could be good reason behind this.

The vast majority of the leading fan theories on God of War Ragnarok all suggest that the game is hiding a lot more than the trailers are letting on. Some people believe Kratos will die, and some people believe Atreus will get punched through time by Odin. There are a bunch of fan theories out there, and the silence surrounding God of War Ragnarok, even less than 100 days till release, could imply that the game is in fact hiding some of its biggest plot and gameplay twists. Regardless of whether Sony and Santa Monica ends up revealing more before its November 9 release date, God of War Ragnarok is already set to be one of the biggest games ever made.

God of War Ragnarok is scheduled to release on November 9, 2022 on PS4 and PS5.
