There are over 50 ravens in God of War: Ragnarok, and all need freeing from the clutches of Odin. Once players find all ravens in God of War: Ragnarok, they gain a bundle of rewards. Upon each visit to the Raven Tree in Niflheim, the ravens will tell players deeper lore about Odin and the Raven Keeper. They will also unlock great armor and runic attacks to be the best in God of War: Ragnarok, as long as they continue their hunt for Odin’s Ravens.

7 Girdle Of Raven Tears

The first chest that players can unlock after destroying 6 Ravens. This chest will hold the loot Girdle of Raven Tears. This Waist Armour focuses on Defence and Luck stats for the character and includes the perk Healing Efficacy 2. The Girdle of Raven Tears means that players will have increased healing from Healthstones, Rage, and Gear.

With one piece of the Raven Tears armor, players will have a 15% increase in healing. This armor is described as “Heavily fortified armor that is said to be stronger than the hardened ice of Niflheim.” It’s a fairly effective waist armor in God of War: Ragnarok, considering it only needs 6 Ravens defeated to obtain.

6 Bracers Of Raven Tears

After finding and destroying 12 Ravens in God of War: Ragnarok, players can take another trip to Niflheim to open yet another chest. This chest will contain the wrist armor, Bracers of Raven Tears. The description reads identical to that of the previous armor, the Girdle of Raven Tears. The perk, Healing Efficacy 2 also returns.

The combination of the Bracers of Raven Tears and the Girdle of Raven Tears means that players will have a maximum healing increase of 30%. That’s a great bonus for the low cost of 12 of Odin’s Ravens. The armor also focuses on Strength, Defence, and Luck.

5 Cuirass Of Raven Tears

After destroying 18 Ravens, players can obtain the 3rd Niflheim chest in God of War: Ragnarok. This chest provides players with the Cuirass of Raven Tears, a chest armor from Niflheim. The Cuirass of Raven Tears features the Healing Mist perk, which provides players with a Low Luck opportunity to grant Healing Mist when they hit enemies, a great opportunity against Thor.

This perk is rather effective for early game builds, as it means that players that continue to swing with the might of the Leviathan Axe, or the dreaded fury of the Blades of Chaos, could obtain some healing as they do battle. The chest armor also features stats in Strength, Defence, and Luck.

4 Breath Of Thamur

One of the absolute best Leviathan Axe runic attacks in God of War: Ragnarok can be obtained in Niflheim after destroying 28 Ravens. This Heavy Runic Attack for the Leviathan Axe comes in the 4th chest in Niflheim and is called Breath of Thamur. This ability harbors great power and will inflict a small amount of frost status on every hit.

It’s definitely worth the effort of 28 Ravens, as the Breath of Thamur has Kratos hold up the Leviathan Axe, with a blizzard swarming the battlefield, damaging anything inside it. Enemies are stunned from going near Kratos during this attack, and it can be upgraded to 5 points in Damage and 3 in Frost.

3 Meteoric Slam

Returning to Niflheim after freeing 38 Ravens from Odin’s watchful eye will grant players another chest. Inside said chest is the Meteoric Slam, which is a Heavy Runic attack for the Blades of Chaos. This Runic attack for the Blades of Chaos in God of War: Ragnarok isn’t the best, but is still worth picking up, as it grants a decent amount of Damage and Burns, with a relatively good cooldown.

With the Meteoric Slam Heavy Runic attack, Kratos will slam the Blades of Chaos into the ground to rain down fire in a wide arc. Whoever is caught in the fury will be inflicted with the scattered Burn status. It’s good for keeping enemies back, but not the most powerful move in God of War: Ragnarok.

2 The Finger Of Ruin

By the time players can find and destroy 48 Ravens, they will have the Draupnir Spear in their possession. This is one of the newest weapons for Kratos’ brutal arsenal of war, and it has a unique combat style. 48 Ravens will grant players with the Niflheim chest that unlocks the Heavy Runic attack, The Finger of Ruin for the Draupnir Spear in God of War: Ragnarok. This Heavy Runic attack is fairly decent, and one of the best Runic Attacks for the Draupnir Spear in God of War: Ragnarok.

At level 3, the Finger of Ruin will have 5 points in Damage, 4 in Force, and 3 in Stun, making it a greatly effective and versatile Heavy Runic attack. Kratos will use the gust of the Draupnir Spear to create a tornado, damaging and stunning enemies in the vast vacuum radius.

1 The Raven Keeper

After claiming all six rewards from the Niflheim chests in God of War: Ragnarok, players will be able to face off against an optional and challenging boss encounter in the Niflheim Sparring Arena. This boss is none other than the Raven Keeper, a loyal ally to Odin, and part of the reason that these Ravens have been begging to be freed, for they were once children whose souls have been twisted and malformed into spies.

The boss battle is pretty fun, and players will need to use their companion’s bow to effectively damage the Raven Keeper. The boss will even summon a mighty dragon to join the fight, making for an intense and fun encounter that can only be achieved after destroying 48 Ravensacross the nine realms in God of War: Ragnarok.

God of War: Ragnarok is available now on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
