Bearing that in mind, it’s interesting to note that God of War’s lead level designer Rob Davis recently stated to the fine folks over at VG 24/7 during a behind-closed-doors showing this morning that the demo being shown this week is running at 30 frames-per-second. With this being the case, it means that the footage displayed during Sony’s E3 showcase was operating on a “regular” PlayStation 4, instead of the company’s now-confirmed PS4 Neo.
With many console gamers sitting on the fence when it comes to the latest upgraded hardware being created during the mid-life cycle of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the fact that the assets shown during Sony’s symposium last night for God of War was supported by a PS4 currently on the market should be comforting for those already owning the system. After all, one would be hard-pressed to find another fan who wasn’t excited about the title’s reveal and graphical capabilities.
Furthermore, Davis went on to say that he was unsure of what God of War’s targeted frame rate will be for shipping. Not to mention, with the action title having just been revealed to the public yesterday evening, it still lacks an official release date as of writing. Nevertheless, as the year marches on, we ought to find out about the title’s inspirations from Norse mythology and art, as well as its launch window in the coming months.
Of course, once God of War does eventually receive its release date, it’s easy to imagine Sony going on to bundle the epic action game with the PS4 Neo as an added incentive to buy the new console. Naturally, though, an upgraded PS4 creates concerns for some, including the argument that developers should push the boundaries of the existing hardware as far as possible before releasing another console. However, perhaps using a franchise as visually impressive as God of War for the Neo’s flagship title could change fans’ concerns into peace of mind.
