The team was forced to make some tough decisions, as you can see from this quote:
Asmussen goes on about releasing the cut content through some sort of DLC:
Free is a nice thought, but I have a hard time imagining the God of War team putting the extra effort into the project if there’s not additional recompense. Still, Asmussen seems honestly disappointed that the content had to be cut, and if the director wants it out there then we can probably count on it.
A final quote about how difficult a decision it was for Asmussen:
Now I won’t be able to judge the ending of the God of War trilogy without wondering what it could, or should have been. It’s interesting to me that the team cut a portion of an ending to the entire trilogy, rather than some section in the middle of the game with less impact on the plot. Then again, how could you ever prioritize them? I’ll trust that Asmussen and his team made God of War 3 the best they could.
Well God of War fans, is this a depressing revelation? Would you be interested in seeing an epilogue released as DLC? And make sure and look forward to our God of War 3 review in the coming days.
