The 33-year-old Rivera, who is most well-known for her role as Santana Lopez in the hit TV series Glee, currently watchable on Netflix, vanished from Lake Piru in Ventura County on Wednesday evening. She had gone to the lake Wednesday afternoon with her toddler son and rented a boat; both were seen leaving for the lake together.

But approximately three hours later, another boater discovered the boy alone in a drifting boat, asleep onboard. The son was wearing a life vest at the time of discovery, and an adult-sized life vest was found on the boat as well. The child reported that they went swimming, but that his mother did not return to the boat.
While Rivera’s son is currently safe and healthy with his family, it seems like the mystery may turn into a case of a drowning accident. The lake can get up to 40 feet deep in some areas, and wind is a common factor in the Lake Piru area. The Sheriff’s Office said they would pause search efforts after nightfall and would resume “at first light,” a decision that’s made many onlookers to the tragedy very upset.
#FindHer began trending on Twitter Wednesday night following the news. Now, Thursday morning, she is tragically being presumed dead as she has not yet been found.
Fans of the TV series Glee are calling the show “cursed;” back in 2013, star Corey Monteith who played lead Finn Hudson died of a toxic combination of heroin and alcohol, and in the same year, Mark Salling (“Puck” Puckerman) was accused of sexual battery and possession of child pornography and committed suicide prior to his sentencing.
Hopefully, in a contrast of positive news, Rivera will be found alive soon.
